Places You Shouldn't Install a Camera

If you are installing your own security camera system then you need to think carefully about where you are going to place the cameras to get the most from the system. Here are some places that you shouldn’t install cameras:

Where people can reach them:
This is a beginner’s mistake; you should never install your cameras where other people can reach them as this will enable criminals to divert your cameras so that they can create blind spots.

Where the sun or artificial light is pointing into them:
Make sure that you install your cameras so that they are not pointing directly into any light source. This will obscure the feed from the camera, making it harder to view and identify any criminals.

Where it is invading other’s privacy:
While your security is paramount, you should not place a camera where it invades others privacy. For example, you should never install a camera that looks into someone else’s house, even if it does offer a good angle for your security.

Where it overlaps too much with another camera:
Obviously, having a degree of overlap is good, if you have enough cameras, but too much is a waste of an important resource. Spread your cameras out to get maximum coverage.
